Project Unnati Scheme MGNREGA – Training for skill development under Unnati Scheme
MNREGA, a pioneering initiative launched by the central government, directly aids rural families without skills by providing employment opportunities. Following their participation in the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA program, workers will undergo further training in skill development through Project Unnati.
Under this initiative, families and young individuals will receive specialized training in skill development tailored to their interests. This training aims to equip them with alternatives to the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme, enabling them to pursue sustainable livelihoods. Objective of Project Unnati Scheme
This initiative aims to train 200,000 beneficiaries across 26 states and 2 union territories within three years. Its primary goal is to encourage individuals currently benefiting from the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme to pursue self-employment opportunities.
Furthermore, participants who have completed 100 days under this scheme will receive a stipend from the government. To ensure efficient implementation, the government will employ a registration process to facilitate application, counseling, and mobilization of the beneficiaries.
Eligibility
To avail the benefits of this scheme, certain eligibility criteria have been prescribed which are listed in the following –
- To avail of benefits under this scheme, individuals must meet specific criteria depending on the program they are interested in:
- Only individuals currently employed under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Scheme Act 2005 are eligible.
- Applicants must be between 18 and 45 years old.
- Those seeking tuition under the Deendayal Upadhyaya Kaushal Yojana must be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Applicants interested in training from the Rural Self Employment Training Institute or Krishi Vigyan Kendra must be between 18 and 45 years old.
- Educational qualifications vary depending on the course, ranging from completion of at least 5th grade to 12th grade.
- Only one individual per family is eligible to receive training under this scheme.
